LEARNING THROUGH DOING
We at Network Dynamics believe that the competitive edge of a learning institution lies not in its governance or academic rigor alone.
Today organizations’ are calling for definitive returns on the investments they make into the careers of their employees and they expect to see results that are tangible and measurable.
Network Dynamics understands that "Life doesn't happen in modules" – and likewise neither does the transfer of learning. Our focus is on making learning real, relevant, and fun whilst allowing the learner to experience the concept being learnt within the context of their own environment or job.
We can no longer plug and play and believe that a change of behaviour will happen. Training and learning needs to be realistic and within the frame of reference of the learner i.e. any training intervention needs to demonstrate how it applies to the individual in his or her own environment. Every learner needs to be supported throughout the training process which also includes being allowed to make mistakes.
In order to grasp the concept of any training or coaching program the learner must be allowed to touch, feel and pull the concept apart. Most learners who find themselves in corporate learning interventions are not there of their own volition but rather because they have been sent to ‘change’ and come back ‘competent’!
Within the South African context one may believe that the legislation and assessment criteria that governs learning delivery is adequate, however, I beg to differ, you can grasp a concept from a book or even view a process from an audio visual but until the individual is exposed to the reality of the concept it remains a theory rather than a conceptual understanding.
At Network Dynamics over and above the academic integrity of our training material we are passionate about the delivery and method of learning and it is of utmost importance that whatever channel the information is disseminated through the learning must be real, applicable and intrinsic.
We can no longer blame cost, time or the lack of creativity for learning outcomes. We need to look for new ways of learning, we have to make it about the individual we teach and we have to believe that people can and will find the answers given the right context.
In today’s world learning must Inspire and heighten curiosity in order to create the most appropriate learning context – then watch and SEE.
